A Dutch oven cook out. Warm fires in pits, hot coals under the cast iron pots. Food cooked to perfection in the great outdoors. Happy New year.

Finally getting over Crud
It's been a long month. Perpetual coughing and congestion I can identify with poor President Bush on this illness. Finally got doc to give z-max and am now getting better. So now maybe can enjoy Christmas season.

Bronchitis is a nasty thing
When you have bronchitis that lingers you get so tired of the darn coughing. I feel for President Bush. I know just how he feels

Fall is here
It's a beautiful day in the Hill country. Doing those last minute things to get ready for Thanksgiving. Watching the goings on of Gaza - Israeli War. The boiling point!

Succeed from the Union?
I can understand the inclination to wish this so but what would older folks do without soc security and Medicare? Way too entrenched in this Uncle Sam union
There's no place like home
You can travel and enjoy it. But there's no place like home. Sometimes living out of a suitcase gets tough. And nothing feels good as your own pillow and bed.

It's been awhile!🐬
I went cruising. Over the ocean blue. And it IS blue once you get away from the Texas shore. I think Texas beaches are among the worst crept S Padre perhaps. Really enjoyed the ride although I think the line I went on had a lot of strange people on it. Will opt for a week long cruise next time.

Our nation divided
I feel our nation is divided along class lines. Class warfare. And who said the Civil War was over. I pray we can turn this country around and get away from the socialist structure we have been headed to

Parents!
Teach your children morals and ethics cause no one else will. You might consider taking them to church too. That's part of the founding fathers notion of what this country was about

Beautiful day
So glad I moved to the Hill Country. Best leap of faith ever. I am dreading this election because I don't care for either candidate but Romney is lessor of two evils.

Turning from God
I believe that turning away from god by many Americans is leading not only to moral decay but God said be faithful to Him and he would provide for your needs. Look at the lack of jobs, people losing homes. The general wealth of this country has tumbled as church involvement has gone down. Think on it. This nation was created under God

Two party system
Sure is a shame that people feel they can only vote Repub or Demo. I could stand a viable third party candidate. Don't think I'll see it again in my lifetime

Christians stand up - be counted
Find a church you like and GO on Sundays rather than sit home and eat potato chips on the couch. If we don't. The Muslim tide will keep rolling and you may find yourself praying to Mecca several times a day, like it or not

Cooling down
It is as though the horrid grip of the heat has released from our throats as Fall edges in. Time to think of walking for exercise again.

Cfhristian tolerance
I find it hard to be tolerant of the religion of Islam. They believe there is but one God and Mohammed. All I seem to see is vengeful zealots bound on destroying who they consider infidels. My tolerance level is stretched thin.

Diapers and Politicians should be changed regularly, both for the same reason.

The World
The World becomes more attractive than intimacy with The Lord. I guess that is why most of us go astray as we grow up. I heard a young man say We leave Jesus at the altar of Cool. How strong!

does anyone read these blogs?
Just curious. I wonder if anyone actually sees these Google Blogs. This is my place to pour it all out. I wish that people could see that Christians need to get back to Church, and small groups in Church. The Islamic faith has no problems getting their believers to attend their Mosques and pray to Mecca several times a day. Lais-ze-fare Christians best decide what they are and if they are going to live out their faith or not.

Medicare home health
Sounds like home Heath services currently covered will be deeply cut by Obamacare. Rise up ye older, tired former workers of America vote to get rid of that abomination.
Christians
Time to get back into church. You nation may depend on it. I recently got an email explaining the allegiance of the Islamic religion. They only answer to Allah and it could be possible any allegiance they have to this country could be superseded by Allah. So Christians better start standing up and be counted

Not much to choose from
The choice we have for the Presidential election sucks to put it mildly. Guess its one of those years folks will have to make the old lesser of two evils choice

Kiss more Chiks?
I believe I can support the live and let live thing when it comes to gay rights but I find a public 'kiss in' between women too much in my face and personally offensive

Chicken 'chit'
Now people are showing support for Chick Filet family to voice their opinion regarding marriage. That is free speech. Like the man who lied about getting military medals. However because it is politically incorrect, certain groups are lambasting the chain. Are we not allowed to have a different opinion other than the politically prescribed view? Beginning to sound like socialism.
Small town vs large town
I have come to believe that living in a small town helps you get closer to God and gain moral values. Not that there are a lack of good congregations in large towns but there's more caring about our neighbors. Life is not as stresses in small towns.

Freedom of speech
It does not apply if you say something politically incorrect. But it is ok if you lie about earning Medal of Honor. Hummm there is something wrong with this picture

Haves to the have nots
The nation has and is becoming more a nation of class warfare. The government taking from those who earn good money and give it to those who don't. Isn't that somewhat socialist? And look who is at the helm. Uncle SAMs plantation for sure.

Regarding clips of Romney
Watched the clips about him addressing NAACP and my first thought was he had guts walking into the lions den. But my biggest perception from the reaction to Obamacare was wondering if the group is racist in its support of our Black President simply because he's Black? I wonder how they'll feel about Obamacare when they have to pay 3.5 % tax to the Feds when they sell their homes after 2013?

Calmer life in the Hill Country
I saw on TV that heavy traffic sounds can contribute to heart attacks. Good thing we dont have that kind of thing here. I came here because it felt like Paradise to me, A nice almost clear river running through town and the glory of the hills around me. I have gotten closer to God here, which I terribly needed.
If you have not read The Harbinger, you should. It's a real eye opener as to the future of this country. And everyone needs to get closer to God. The sooner the better. Don't 'blow it off' if you want to see Heaven some day.

Less than 1% ? Health Insurance
I heard on the news this morning that the tax or penalty for not getting insurance will affect only about 1% of the American Population. They said it would affect those who can afford insurance but choose not to get it. Hello! What about unemployed people? What about folks that make less than 25, 000 a year? I dont think most of those folks can 'afford" insurance. How did they determine who can afford it? Washington is in a world of it's own. They seem to think insurance is "affordable' I dont think they know that insurance for a 61 year old woman runs about $500 a month. What is she only brings home about $1300 a month? She has to pay taxes, her home payment, her car and that fat insurance payment? They have NO Clue what they are talking about.

To Hello in a Handbasket on Healthcare
Well, now we have confirmation by the supreme court to the new Health care mandates. I can understand mandates for drivers to insure their vehicles, because that makes sense, fiscal responsibility if they are involved in a crash. Healthcare mandates only affect those who won't qualify for medicaid including those just making it on low income and paycheck to paycheck. Companies are going to have to offer hospital only coverage, to cover those truly serious medical crises, in order to help people afford health insurance on low income. Give me a break! Even for older workers, many companies do not offer health insurance to their employees. You cannot imagine what their insurance premiums will be! Totally dreadful. So insurance companies with HAVE to come up with policies for people who can ill afford any insurance. A hospital only, and NOT covering visits to the emergency room for a common cold, or the emergency room will see abuse and the premiums will go up. Better start getting training for jobs which can go well in other countries because this country is becoming a big government telling you how to live. Maybe Australia will be the new promised land. I'm too old to go but you young folks, take heed.

Far reaching thoughts
I think beyond my lifetime, that in say 50 to 75 years that you will see an exodus of educated people who are the primary tax payers, business and personal, leave this country. We cannot sustain this runaway debt as you cannot spend more than you take in with good intentions. The social dependency and lack of effort to work, along with lack of ethics instilled in children, will eventually catch up to us. Do you not find it amazing a town had to ban cussing in town? Because teens had not gotten a proper upbringing? The government has taken God and ethics out of school, where most of us reinforced our behavior. Now young people run amuck because parents are so busy the don't have time to know their kids. This country will become an unruly, poorly educated, and dependent on Uncle Sam that there will be few left to work and be burdened by higher taxes. So that is why I see flight to a few other countries where ethics still exist

Uncle Sam's Plantation
I went to dinner last night and heard about a book called Uncle Sam's Plantation: How Big Government Enslaves America's Poor and What We Can Do About It by Star Parker (hardback). This is something I have been observing for quite sometime!
Getting America's poor and needy hooked on being taken care of by the Govt. Then they are indebted to Big brother.and Enslaved by him because they are accustomed to being 'taken care of' they loose their desire to do anything else. They are then 'slaves of the Government'.... And they go willingly to it and feed on this predicament.
This is a Country being made Divided by Classes, just like it was Ages ago. We have come full Circle.

Another hot but beautiful day!
Paradise found. I have lots of birds that come to my yard. Put out hummingburd feeder, hoping ot attract them soon. It's been dry lately, I am hoping the weather pattern changes and we can get some afternoon showers. Not looking forward to another drought. But we have the river here and you can just go sit in it, it's nice and clear water.

Politically incorrect again
of course, I listen to the tv news, and the woes of the federal government intake vs outflow of cash. And the ever present issue of illegal aliens. but the government has enabled the most ill educated to continually be on welfare, so why bother to work? Also they shack up with their boyfriends but dare not include them cause that would mess up their benefits. Single mothers, who DO work get huge tax breaks that I as a single mother never got. I was in the older generation. Congress hadn't become so generous then, we had to work and did get some child care benefits. Alot of these "single mothers" maintain a household with their boyfriend, again, dare not admit that because it would mess up their head of the hosuehold status with all the great income tax refunds... gosh, why bother to get married and lose all that?

All the needy causes
Wildlife, Alzheimer's , cancer and hungry people. Which is most needy? The people of course. Out of sight, out of mind in Africa you think? They are humans. And Jesus said help the poor, widows and orphans. There is a higher power and our lives are noted.
Breathing easy
Another gorgeous morning but needing rain again. It's been a little humid but manageable. The air is clean and nice here. It's a shame young people want to flock to the polluted cities.

Day of Asension
Jesus left them and was taken up into Heaven..... Well I am a Christian and I do believe in the power of Jesus. Now, not being sacrilegious, would it be a theory that if we are made in the image of our Holy father and Jesus his son, and he was "taken up" to Heaven ...would it be too far fetched to think God could be what we term an alien being watching over us? And Jesus was lifted up by a beam of some sort that people relate in "close encounters?" I don't think it would be sacrilegious to consider an alien explanation as God lived on high so would this not be plausible?

I have an insightful friend...
He has assured me there is a Heaven, and has seen it in dreams. You know, I believe that. I suppose because of the faith I have, and the belief that Jesus said simply 'You will be in Heaven with me today'.Many have had near death experiences also and seen the light, and felt that 'no body' experience, only a conscious. Have faith, and do not be afraid....
Say a simple Hello
I was leaving the grocery store, and an elderly lady was walking in, and I simply said "Hello". She stopped , got closer and indicated she hadn't heard me. I repeated my hello and she said "thankyou, I am here because my husband is very sick and I must get alot of groceries. Thank you so much for saying hello" and on she went. It is really a Christian thing, just to say or do something nice for people. Simply to notice them.

I'm sick of Political Correctness
Yes, I'm sick of it. I'm tired of having to look around to see if anyone might be listening to me talk. I'm tired of feeling censored by my own government, that I might not be saying something against their doctrine. This country is going down the toilet. The way I remember it growing up, is not the way it is now.
Stand up people and spit on Political correctness. Please, Take back your Right to Free Speech!
Stand up people and spit on Political correctness. Please, Take back your Right to Free Speech!
Religion and work ethic
think about this, the Bible has survived many many years, beyond any individual lifetime. Although I am Christian, I can say the same of other religions. Their writings and holy books have been the one continuing thread of mankind. We are only grains of sand in the whole of humankind. We are special but it is not "all about us". This is the ME generation. Our kids are given gold stars in school for completing the smallest of tasks. They are all reinforced that they are special and any little thing they do is great. Well that is all fine and good, but how does that prepare them for the adult real world? I don't think so.
Say a child, newly reaching adulthood, having had his own way and praised for it in school, gets his first job out of high school. His eyes fly open suddenly, you want me to do what? well, I'm only 5 minutes late, big deal. What you mean, I can't get a nose ring? After dissing his boss on Facebook, the young person recieves his pink slip from work, ie. he gets fired for being tardy, dress code violations and disrepecting his supervisor. WHAT? But in school, he got away with all this? what's going on?
Well, what's going on is that the child is not prepared with work ethic, or respect for others, particularly elders and those in supervisory positions. We used to have religion in school, we used to prepare a child with ethics. But that's not politically correct now.
I see high unemployment, but not enough people with skills needed to fill those jobs. Also, the lower end jobs, kids have been indoctrinated that they are so special those jobs are beneath them. That is why we have illegal aliens, willing to work in those jobs. Our forefathers were farmers mainly in this country. They valued education for their children, they valued religion. Now these children we have created want to be football stars and would find it distasteful and beneath them to work in a field, gathering a harvest.
So we have a generation of youth who thinks they are too good to do anything besides make big money and have lots of material things.
They need some humility and someone bigger than them in their lives. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Waiting for a storm
Looks like we may get some rain tonight. Much needed. I guess you might make an analogy of that. Our upcoming presidential race and congress. It would be too good to be true if we could just get rid of all the incumbents. Sighs

Politically Incorrect
I would like to hope people out there will follow their feelings about the do nothing Congress and vote every incumbant in Washington out when the big elections come up. Can you imagine the headlines on CNN? Heads would be rolling and jaws dropping. They wouldnt believe their little entrenchments were gone. Well, I'll vote that way but the question is, will others have the courage to do that? Why do we have this mentality that we'll waste out vote if we don't vote with the rest of the sheep? That's hogwash and we've been brainwashed to think that way. Break out folks, lets show them who has the real power behind Congress.. not lobbyists, not the reps themselves. But the 99% of us who do not make over a million dollars a year.

agravations
it's a beautiful day in the Hill Country. Cool and crisp this morning. I'm still new at this but I try to put what I am feeling, interesting things I do. I loved that movie about the girl who blogged about getting through the Julia Childs cookbook, but I am not that proactive. I went to a Poverty Party, commiserating the tax Day and how we are broke from paying taxes. I have a real bone to pick regarding taxes I pay. I get really agravated at the ladies in our country who have babies with no fathers around, and collect big payments for each child etc. These kids are growing up in a Matriarchal society. OK, so I'm not politically correct. I don't mind helping folks who need it, but for them to make a 'racket' out of welfare, really irks me. C'est la vie.

Beautiful day the Lord has given us
I'm about to finish my Bible study on James, by Beth Moore. What an adventure. I could kick myself for not participating in Bible studies more in my younger years.. Oh what I missed. It can really be intense and though provoking and brings the participants to life, not just ole stodgy Biblical characters.

Getting older
I think the older we get, the closer we draw to God. I mean, you want to explore your faith and embrace it. I have dived into Bible study and have found it very worthwhile. Especially Beth Moore study. I have gone back to my roots. I wish I'd gotten back sooner. But now , making the best of it. Thirsting for knowledge.

Cloudy morning
Well it's cloudy and foggy and I have still been wondering what to blog about. I have moved from a humid, sultry part of Texas to a more dry, semi arid part and I love it. The air is not so heavy and the heat will be drier. I feel fresh and renewed here. You know , it's funny, when you get older, you begin to grow closer to God again. I assume because you feel like you are running out of time to do so. Well, I have gotten back into church and joined a Bible study group, or two and let me say.... I love it. I am really getting into the studies.
